Emrys sighed. This apple-seller was being absolutely unreasonable, even for a merchant! Just because Emrys didn't have some stupid shiny piece (yes, he knew it was gold, but he felt too irritated to acknowledge it), it made him a 'barbarian'. Was a intricately carved stone not good enough for three apples? A breeze rustled through the trees, blowing his hair around. He gave up and walked away. He looked around for something to do, and his gaze landed on a girl with a tiger d?mon. Interested, he walked over to see if a conversation with her would be interesting. Anyway, he had a job to do! "Hi there! Any news?" he asked, as Solobrion shifted into a tiger in interest (a black one), and went over to her d?mon.

Kayla was doing her weekly shopping for food, it was never so entertaining that Kayla would prefer not to go at, but Dominus always ended up convincing her to go as they wouldn't have any more food the day after. Kayla usually went through it very quickly so that she could go back to her arts.
As she was going through the fruit stand, that's when a tall man came up to her "Hi there! Any news?". Kayla looked around her not really sure if she was talking to her, and as no one else seemed to be around she stared back at him. Looking from top to bottom, she knew he wasn't from around here. "Am I suppose to know you?" She looked down at his deamon which changed form to another tiger, she found it weird as he could still change it's form and Dominus had taken his permanent form the second she turned 13.

"I doubt it..." replied Emrys, flashing a quick glare towards Solobrion. She wasn't supposed to shift, it creeped people out... but any day now would be the day she settled, he felt sure of it. My mind is wandering again. he thought to himself.
"I come from way north, and I gather news. It seems my clan is extremely out of touch... So, anything interesting happen? Or is the least ordinary thing that happens these days a man dropping an apple?"
That had been the only news he could report, once. Rheia never really forgave him for that... but his mind was wandering again. He noticed out of the corner of his eye another man haggle for apples.
Why was his mind wandering so much today?

Kayla still looked at the man standing in front of him in an awkward way. A Clan, that guy must have been from a witch clan, she knew it. She might be a regular art teacher. But she surely loved to learn about other stuff just like witches.
"Well if bringing back a man dropping an apple as a news. Then I think you really need a life man." Kayla was the kind of person to never really hide what she was thinking. She didn't mind what other people though Which is why mostly Dominus was always there to make it sound less harsh.
"Nothing has been happening around here lately." Said Dominus. " Everything has been rather calm. Although the church is coming back to power, and I'm personally not sure if that's any good."

Emrys had known this would be boring. 'No news'. 'Get a life'. 'The church is rising'. Nothing ever hap- Wait, what???!! "The church is rising?" Okay, so maybe something interesting was going on... This was big. Really big. He had to tell the witch clan... but it was kinda rude to suddenly fly off in the middle of the conversation. "Are you sure?" Solobrion asked, shifting back into an eagle, and settling on Emrys' arm.

Kayla looked down at Dominus. She guess that this witch guy needed more info for his clan or something like that so she completed what Dominus was saying and answering Solobrion's question. "Yeah, I work in a college, and they seem to be showing a lot around. If they were bringing their rules back in. Which I hate a lot."
Kayla looked down to the stuff she had taken from the stands. She knew she was done with the shopping for today. But knowing that Dominus would tell her something about respect if she just left back to her home. So she standed there looking at the witch man. "You're clan will probably be man that the church is coming back as they hate them a lot."

"Yeah, this is really big. Um... you seem to be done, and I seem to be done, so do you think we should go now?" Emrys didn't want to appear rude, but he really needed to get this information to his clan. Solobrion started squawking anxiously. "Shh" Emrys whispered in her ear, hoping the woman wouldn't notice.
Then loud noises echoed down the street. A procession of people were marching down the road. Emrys glanced at them in surprise, and then his eyes widened in astonishment. They were church members!!! "Quick!" he muttered to the woman. "Hide! They might not be meaning to do anything bad, but I think it might be better if we were somewhere else!" Why, oh why couldn't he have mastered that invisibility spell?

Ksoyo sent Shogasake on to scout in the market place of the town the badger and bird told her about. She had fared them well and shape-changed to run to the town--she had plenty of town--Shogasake told her that the male witch just started talking to the human woman.
When she reached the outskirts of the town, a parade was just entering, making a loud commotion. 'Stay there, Shogasake. I don't want to be found. They'll probably think you're just another bird. Don't give them the location of the other two, please. Just wheel around and act like you want a peice of fruit or something. I'll turn rat.'
She turned to a rat and scampered over to where the other two were hiding. 'Come here, Shogasake, as another rat.' she thought silently to her d?mon. 'Now go and talk to the witch-boy's d?mon and ask if this rat could make them invisible. Then I'll go teach him how to make this spell.' Ksoyo was incredulous--how could this messenger have survived so long without learning invisibility, Ksoyo thought to herself--she had heard of the Messenger and wondered if he had heard of her, the Wanderer.
Shogasake did as he was told and went to talk to the witch-boy's d?mon.

Emrys was so startled he nearly jumped right out of his hiding spot. He had heard vague stories about this witch, the Red-Eyed Wanderer, but actually being close to her sent small shivers down his spine. He replied, via Solobrion, that Yes, thanks for the spell, and yes, I would be very grateful if you could teach me." He whispered to Kayla, "I found some help." Solobrion c ocked her head and corrected, "Actually, it found us." The marching parade was getting closer. Even though he was rather scared, he still couldn't help noticing all the interesting things about them. For one, they were wearing uniforms that he didn't remember them wearing in the pictures. For another, the way their d?mons were behaving was a bit odd...

Shogasake noticed the d?mons and shuddered at their actions.
Ksoyo, now in human form again, soothed her d?mon. "Should we move to some other advantageous post, or stay here. We may talk and move about freely as long as we stay within the bounds of the spell. I might try something if I need to, but," she paused as Shogasake gave a squeak. The witch and her d?mon turned to watch what was about to happen as the procession stopped.
{By the way, does this RP have a specific plot, or is there elbow room?}

(There is in fact very little plot right now.)
Emrys watched carefully as the church members suddenly picked up several people's d?mons, turned around, and walked back the way they had come. He saw several people suddenly shiver at the breaking of the touch taboo, and then scramble in panic towards the church-members. Though he was not one of them, he understood how terrible it felt for them; he had felt it himself, on the Island of Witchhood. He grew angry, and without conscious realization, reached out with his mind and lit one of the church-member's d?mon on fire. He was a little astonished, but primarily glad, because they deserved it. Yet to his horror, the marching procession marched on and took no notice of the burning d?mon. No one screamed in pain. No one even turned to look. Not even the d?mon changed its constant procession. Slowly, the fire died out, and there was the d?mon, a little charred, but basically fine. Solobrion moaned.

{Wow.}
"Should we follow them, boss," Ksoyo asked, deferring to Emrys. I will so kill them for that! Just because my d?mon can travel away from me doesn't give them any right to take others' d?mons. "I should send Shogasake," she finished.
Shogasake rippled into her small cat form and let out a screech and a hiss. Ksoyo tried to comfort her. "It's okay. Only if Emrys says we should. And we do need an agent among them." At that, Shogasake calmed down somewhat. Duty was duty, she had done similar things in her time.
"Did anyone see whose d?mons were taken? And what kind they were?" Ksoyo wanted to know what the Church was up to.

(Hey Kirsten? You can respond any time you want...)
Emrys wasn't comfortable with being called boss, but this was hardly the time to argue about that. "I think that to do anything other than follow them would be dishonorable. But if Shogasake doesn't want to go, someone else could do it. I didn't notice any specifics, but I think there were a couple rabbits and maybe a snake or something similar. And as for whose, I think that the evidence is right in front of our faces." Indeed, while some were running away, and others milling around for help, a group of people had collapsed on the ground, apparently too overcome with pain to run after their d?mons.

{Her last login was yesterday, 7:27pm}
Ksoyo said a single word, "Go," and Shogasake tore after them, ferret in form.
"Now, what to do about these people, laying too hurt? I don't want to make them well and have them run their feet to bloodied shreds."
{I meant, were they kids' or adults' d?mons? Also, were the d?mons settled, or unsettled? Or a combination of either case?}
