Cardinal Muldredd swept out of the Cathedral near the market place with his long red cloak and his black cassock billowing ominously in the afternoon breeze. His eyes were shaded from the sun by his skull cap. He walked with a purpose to the stalls, ignoring the glares and whisperings of the townspeople. He turned to Vulpin with a smile What would they know about the matters of the Divine Church? The fox just shook her head and kept pace with her partner. Any more conversation was interrupted by their arrival in the noisy market street. His shoes pounding the pavement he approached a book seller and smiled sweetly before looking at her wares. His faithful d?mon looked up into his searching eyes and began to root around looking for any signs of heresy. The leader of the church on earth was not in the mood to be trifled with.

Emrys ran through the streets, his heart pounding. If they found out... but they wouldn't, he was sure. How could they? They never even saw him, and witching was hardly traceable. But what if they had some way of doing it? Everyone thought separating a d?mon from its owner was impossible, but they had done that too... He slipped through a side alley through to the market street, which he figured would be impossible to track him in, what with all the noise. And yet there seemed to be a slight hush in the crowd... His gaze darted about, trying to find the source of the silence. And then he nearly had a heart attack - that man was wearing the telltale skull cap of a Church Member. They had found him after all! He quickly enveloped himself in a shield of unimportance, and became only another face in the crowd, even though at the moment there was no crowd around him. He hoped the church-member hadn't trained in perception.

Cardinal Muldredd had picked up a heavy leather bound volume entitled ''In Praise of Folly'' by Erasmus. His eyes flashed angrily at the shopkeeper and he asked her quietly ''What his this?''. In reply she just trembled. ''Are you not aware that until the Constitution of Geneva this is a banned book? '' He glared angrily at the feeble old woman ''I will be taking this. Please expect a visit from some of our members this evening.'' He gave his sweet smile again as he picked up the book and placed it in his deep pockets. At that point Vulpin nudged him Over there, near the fruit stall Sean turned to see the crowd that had gathered there but one individual stood out. He strode over to him his Red cloak billowing ominously and asked curtly ''Is there something you have to say?''

Charmine looked curiously up at the man in flowing red robes. Silently, she trailed him with Aeschylus pacing at her side. What was he doing? She had to maintain a brisk pace to keep up with the man. Aeschylus looked up at her warning her not to say it as if somehow it would stop her..."Why don't we sneak with the man?" Charmine suggested gleefully.

((OOC: Erm... who exactly is this person standing out supposed to be? It wouldn't be me, I'm trying to be unobtrusive, and Charmine seems to be behind him... Is this an invite for another character to participate?))

((It was going to be you. After all I thought that your d?mon could have been bristling with indignation at how I treated the old woman and also you are trying to look inconspious and so you stand out))

((OOC: Actually, I was using a shield of unimportance [it's a witch thing] but that's ok, you can have trained in perception.)) Emrys flinched, his gaze running nervously over the church member. He cursed himself mentally, wishing he had put more effort into his shield and wishing that this church member hadn't had the foresight to train in perception. And it hadn't been a very good shield, either... On the brighter side, the church member didn't seem to recognize him, but he could be playing at it... "No, sir... I was just startled to see you, sir. I didn't realize that the church was back in full... ah... function?" His word choice was definitely not at its best, mainly because he was feeling slightly like an elephant who was just confronted with a mouse the size of a small planet. He cast his mind around for familiar minds, anyone who he knew - there! He stiffened. It was the same girl who had been fighting with him.

Sean sneered at the man, his face an image of superiority. ''And what would you know about the workers of the church you impudent rip?'' He glared at the boy before turning to the Assembly at large ''Now take note all of you, I shall say this only once. The Church is back to it's former glory. We have risen like a phoenix from the ashes to return the principles of integrity, respect and admiration to this world. It saddens me to say that many people'' he paused to indicate the shopkeeper ''Have lost their way but rest assured we will deal with them. They will not threaten the foundations of conformity and obedience on which our society is based.'' He smiled around the group seeing this as the perfect opportunity to endear these idiots to his mission. ''My name is Cardinal Muldredd and I am here to represent the authority on earth. I am your link between him and you so please feel free to talk to me about anything you like. I am here to listen and punish where appropriate. Thank you.'' He smiled again as he saw many people soften and bless themselves. This was going to be easy he said to himself Not that one replied his dæmon. Sean turned back to the man he had confronted. ''Now. Who are you?'' he demanded drawing from the folds of his black cassock a notebook and red quill.

[Figured I'd join into the fun. ^-^]
What a wonderfully boring day until this point, one without interruption. The kind of day that one certain reserved Scholar happened to enjoy for the most part, mainly because it ment more time with her dæmon. More time to read, and things of the like. Though, the market place was always somewhere where you could find at least the slightest bit of activity. Either troublesome or interesting, but no matter the reasons behind the disturbance it was always a joy to try and understand the minds of some of the more... shall we say interesting characters that passed through here.
The dæmon belonging to Lucia, currently being walked beside, stopped just as she did when the commotion began. Afterall, who in their right mind wouldn't stop to take a look, ehh? "Look what we have here, Dchrai. She seemed to give the slightest grin, those belonging to the church had always interested her with their false power and such. "Yes... I'd assume someone's gone and done something WRONG again..." The both of them gave a slight chuckle to the situation, deciding it best to go toward the action while staying a bit away. A slight contridiction, yes, but it seemed like a good plan for the time. At least until there was a point in this in which they could openly speak their minds.

((OOC: Beautiful post, Sean. I love it.)) He kept his face carefully blank and calm, but inside his pulse was racing. But he had to keep up appearances, otherwise everything could be lost. He tugged what he was pretty sure was his forelock, and bowed respectively. "M' name's Trob Neitus, sir." he said, thinking fast. "Who're you?" Then he started, as if noticing the church garb for the first time. "Oh, sorry sir, din't realize who you were. Erm, sorry 'bout the impoliteness, sir, though I promise you I have been doin' prayers an' everythin', really!" He tried to put out the appearance that he was a peasant who had been lax in his praying and was worried that this man knew. "Only, sir, m'friend tol' me that there's a rumor of that God's dead. Not that I believe it, o'course!" he added hurriedly. Quick, come out as a dog! he told Solobrion. She slinked out from behind him, a respectful and subservient ((OOC: Think that's the right word...)) dog.

Sean sneered at the ignorant peasant '' I am Cardinal Muldredd you idiot!'' as he heard the boy tell him of this rumour Vulpin quivered with rage and Sean had to hold him back to stop him savaging the dog d?mon. His mind racin he tried to figure out how to deal with this ''rumour''. He knew that the fact it was true did not make it acceptable to say, especially in a crowd of this size. '' How dare you! The very mention of this rumour is blasphemous!! I should have you hanged as a traitor to your God. Would you like that Trob?''

Emrys mentally slapped himself; he didn't realize Muldredd would go this far. He was trying to escape from attention, not double the Church's anger at him. "Oh, no, sir! I didn' think it was true, sir, really! I just... you know... heard't from a friend, who heard [it] from a friend... none o' us really meant anythin' by it, 'cept to see if't was true. I mean, if it was, then it'd be sort of important to... you know..." He shrank back, hoping his expression was convincing. "Any way I can make it up to you, I will! Really!" Now he hoped Muldredd wouldn't try to bring him anywhere where someone would recognize him. Hey! Good to see you! Mind helping out an old friend? he asked the lady he had fought with before.
